Coronavirus and starting a new website design business

Hi Everyone,

I have been debating whether this is a bad or good time to be starting a website design and development business. The economic situation is so volatile at the moment, seemingly changing by the minute. Businesses will be unsure of what will happen next. I do hope it settles down into some sort of routine soon. Then a business owner or manager can work out what the situation is for themselves and the near future.

A business owner might decide that with less people shopping in person (after this rush to horde) and turning to the internet to purchase goods and services in an attempt to isolate themselves from the virus, that their business will need to go online so that people can peruse and buy their products.

Or they might be really struggling and decide they can’t afford to set-up a website. In which case I argue that many businesses can’t afford not to have a website.

While authors might see an opportunity to sell more books as people stay at home and have more time to read. But those stay at homes won’t be visiting book stores (unfortunately – I love spending time in bookshops), so having a great website will be even more important for authors.

Whatever happens, I am determined to have a go, just like people who run their own business and authors.

Anyway, I hope you are all coping with the restrictions the virus is placing on your lives, and I hope you and your family don’t catch it before a vaccine eventuates.

Cheers and good health to you.
